How I Entered Tech: The Story Behind My Pivot

I originally wanted Computer Science, but life unfolded differently. Here is how I pivoted from Biochemistry at OAU to building Fintech experiences, treating every design like a lab test.

Growing up, I was always drawn to logic and anything technical. I loved understanding why things worked, not just accepting that they did. That curiosity shaped how I thought long before I ever touched a design tool. When I got admitted into Biochemistry at OAU, it wasn’t my first choice. I originally wanted Computer Science, but life unfolded differently. Still, I told myself one thing that has guided me ever since: "I can become anything if I put my head to it." Even while studying BCH, the desire to enter tech never left. I kept searching for a path that would allow me to create, build, and work on things that combined logic with creativity.

The Turning Point

That moment came when my cousin introduced me to UI/UX design. It wasn’t dramatic—but it clicked. For the first time, I saw a field where structure, clarity, and problem-solving came together beautifully.

My mom supported me by getting me a design course, and I started attending the academy. That was where the journey became real. I wasn’t just watching other people design—I was designing. I was learning. I was improving.

How Science Made Me a Better Designer

My scientific background helped more than I expected. Instead of rushing through concepts, I experimented. I observed. I iterated.

I treated every design like a lab test: adjust a variable, record the outcome, repeat the process.

Little by little, the results showed. What started as curiosity turned into skill. What started as practice turned into real projects like Invofi and Tellr.

The future

Today, I’m not just studying Biochemistry. I’m building fintech and SaaS experiences, exploring illustration, and pivoting deeper into tech with intention.

I don’t have everything figured out yet, but one thing remains true: I can become anything if I put my head to it and I’m proving it one step at a time.
